Ok, I know it’s been too long since I have blogged about some type of DAILY adventure. After all it is supposed to be a daily blog – RIGHT? So, I will do better, I promise.
This weekend was absolutely perfect!! One of my best girl friends, Sarah, came in town because she FINALLY got a job down here and she was getting her apartment finalized this weekend and, of course, to do a girls weekend with me – we had quite a bit to celebrate. We stopped by the parentals house on Saturday night… My parents always find some way of entertaining us, as many of you know. After a few cocktails at the country club with Brian and his buddies and couple of glasses of wine once we got to my parents, my mom had a “great idea” for me to try to squeeze into my old drill team uniform - weighing in at a whopping 8 pounds and skin tight none-the-less. So I strutted to bathroom to change the whole time thinking to myself “ok, this thing is not going to fit me. Six years ago it did but probably not anymore - how embarrassing.” So as I started to pull the uniform up and zipped it, it fit like a glove. I bounced out of the bathroom doing a whole “TA-DA” thing and proudly displayed my uniform to Sarah. Brian’s eyes I think were going to pop out of his head and my mom was screaming “YEAH- ALIRGHT!!!!” I think it was a real shock to all four of us that it actually did fit. So after a few seconds of reminiscing, then came the big question… Could I still do a jump split while in the uniform without cracking a hip or splitting the uniform in two (of course my mother’s idea again)…. And I am happy to announce that after 6 years and one National Championship under my belt, I still GOT IT!!!!! I feel a little like the uncle on Napoleon Dynamite still living out a high school fantasy but hell, I deserve it and too bad I don't have pictures.
